The New Haven School Board has approved the selection of Kerri Otten as the new principal of New Haven Elementary School. Mrs. Otten will assume the position August 1, 2023, replacing current principal Kasi Meyer, who was recently hired as assistant superintendent in the St. Clair School District.

Mrs. Otten has most recently served as a third grade teacher at New Haven Elementary School.  Prior to moving to third grade in 2020, Mrs. Otten taught kindergarten, second grade, sixth grade, and special education.  Mrs. Otten has spent her entire 20-year teaching career in the New Haven School District.

Dr. Hoener commented, “Our selection committee was very impressed with Mrs. Otten during the interview process where she was selected from a strong pool of candidates.  I have witnessed Mrs. Otten’s leadership within our school district and trust that she is ready for this next step in her career.  She is an excellent teacher and loves her students. I am excited to see Mrs. Otten expand her influence to all students, staff, and families through the principalship.”

“To say I am excited is an understatement,” said Mrs. Otten.  “It is such an honor to be able to take this next step in my career in the very district where I discovered my love of teaching.   I look forward to leading our extremely dedicated staff, and I am proud to continue to serve the students, families, and community of New Haven in this new role.  I wish to extend my appreciation to the Board of Education, Dr. Hoener, and the hiring committee for placing their confidence in me.”
