July 2022

Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members:

We hope you’re enjoying the summer months and are finding opportunities to spend time with family and friends.  Summer is a busy time in the New Haven School District. Our custodial and maintenance crews are preparing buildings for school, and our office staff members are completing the yearly financial statements.  As always, the district office is open for business and ready to answer any questions you might have.

We will have a few staff changes as we begin the year.  Teaching hires or position changes include Lauren Ancell (ES - 6th grade), Danielle Anderson (Special Education Director), Brooklyn Covington (ES - Kdg), Emma Engelbrecht (ES - Kdg), Sybil Grannemann (ES 3rd grade), Deborah King (ES Special Education), Dave Luecke (MS/HS Industrial Arts), Grace McCarthy (HS Business), Casey Mullin (MS/HS Art), Amanda Nilges (MS English), Nicole Overschmidt (ES - Special Education), Jaysie Walters (ES-2nd grade), William Soete (HS Math) and Julie Westermeyer (MS/HS Librarian).  Classified new hires or position changes include Jackie Brown (MS/HS School Secretary), Julie Conner (Parents as Teachers), Makenzie Munsinger (Health Aide), Crystal Payne (MS/HS Secretary), and Kristine Zumsteg (Food Service Director).

School starts in just a few weeks and back-to-school events will begin in the very near future.  New student registration will take place on August 8th for the elementary and high school and on August 9th for the middle school.  Registration dates for returning high school students are August 2nd for seniors, August 3rd for juniors, August 4th for sophomores, and August 5th for freshmen (including incoming Franklin County R-II students).
Open house will be Thursday, August 18th. The elementary school open house will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm and the high/middle school open house will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm. The meetings for students and their parents who plan to play a sport this year will take place on August 8th at 6:30pm for the middle school and on August 18th at 7:15pm for the high school. Both meetings will take place in the high school gymnasium.

The first day of school will be Monday, August 22nd. The phone number for the elementary office is (573) 237-2141, the middle school office can be reached at (573) 237-2900, and the high school office phone number is (573) 237-2629.

We’re looking forward to a great school year.  I hope you are, as well. If you have a suggestion, comment, or question, please call central office at (573) 237-3231, or check out our website at  We look forward to hearing from you.
